Care organisation seeks new Board members
A local social enterprise is appealing for people to come forward to play a key role in the running of their organisation.
Who Cares (NE) is seeking eight new Board members to oversee the development of services in other areas within the town.
The organisation currently works alongside Connected Care and Supporting Access to Independent Living Services (SAILS) delivering a wide range of health and social care services to residents in the Owton Ward with some of these services soon to be available across the north and central areas of Hartlepool as well.
Who Cares (NE) currently has four members on its Board and now wish to recruit eight additional members to represent the north and central areas of the town. The ethos of Connected Care is that services are designed and delivered locally and reflect the wishes and views of local residents. Board members from the north and central areas of the town should therefore be resident, or working in an organisation that has a strong local presence, in the area of the town which they wish to represent.
Geraldine Martin of Hartlepool Council said: “This is a great opportunity for local people to help shape local services. In particular we are looking to attract new Board members who can bring the right skills to the table to support the development of the social enterprise.”
Two meetings will be held at the Belle Vue Community Sports and Youth Centre, Kendall Road when people can find out more. Details are as follows:
- Wednesday 5 October from 2pm to 4pm
- Thursday 6 October from 6pm to 8pm
People who are interested in becoming a member of the Board are asked to submit an expression of interest by Monday 10 October 2011, either at one of these meetings or by contacting Geraldine Martin using the details given below. In the event that the number of nominations exceeds the places available on the Board, a selection process will be established.
