New class offers help for back pain sufferers
If you suffer with back pain, you might be interested in a new ten-week Pilates course for beginners, starting later this month.
Organised as part of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Exercise for Life programme, the hour-long classes will take place at West View Community Centre in Miers Avenue.
Exercise for Life co-ordinator Lorraine Harrison explains: “Pilates exercise can improve both abdominal strength and spinal mobility. This focus on core strength helps to improve body posture and this in turn can help to reduce back pain.
“It’s important to stress that this course is aimed at people who are new to this form of exercise, and it is not intended for those who regularly practise the Pilates method.”
The course begins on Tuesday 20 September and will run until Tuesday 29 November. Classes run from 6.45 pm until 7.45 pm. The course costs:
- £2.50 per week for casual users
- £2.00 per week for Active Card holders, and
- £1.60 per week for Concession Card holders.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance by calling Lorraine on 01429 861866.
