Murder in the library - events for crime fans
It's going to be absolute murder in Hartlepool's Central Library this May, with several murder-themed events to delight crime story fans and budding sleuths alike.
Denise Sparrowhawk, of the Central Library team, said: "Crime fiction and true crime stories never cease to fascinate people and are among the most popular subjects in libraries.
"We've lined up a great series of events which we're sure will give crime buffs plenty to get their teeth into!"

- Friday 14 May at 6.30 pm - Fatal Exit
A 'Crème de la Crime' murder mystery evening with author Roz Southey. Bring your team of sleuths to discover who took a hammer to the handyman's head - there will be a prize for the first team to solve the mystery. This event costs £2.50 per person - places are limited and need to be booked in advance.
- Thursday 20 May at 7 pm - Meet the crime writer
Author Graham Pears will be reading from his book 'The Myth Of Justice'. A former Chief Superintendent, he has used his in-depth knowledge of crime in Newcastle to create a thrilling story in which his detective Jet embarks upon a breathtaking journey and discovers the devastating cost of being an honest man. Costs £1 per person.
- Friday 28 May at 6.30 pm - Introduction to the forensics of murder
Join forensics expert Norman Kirtlan in a not-for-the-faint-hearted exploration of how forensics are used to solve murders. Due to the subject matter, this event is open to over 18s only. Costs £1 per person.
