Join the Trades Service

Hartlepool's new Trades Service aims to help people of all ages find reliable, local tradespeople to carry out repairs and maintenance in their home.

The Hartlepool Trades Service is being administered by Mears Home Improvements, who run a similar successful scheme for older people in Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside.  The Hartlepool Trades Service went live on 1 April 2010.

Peace of mind for customers

Customers access tradespeople on the Service list via Mears, who will act as project manager on behalf of the customer by arranging for quotes, agreeing start dates, and being on-hand to help with any problems on-site.  The customer is charged a fee for this service only if they decide to go ahead with the work.

Contractors applying to be on the Hartlepool Trades Service are subject to a vetting procedure.  This procedure includes obtaining bank and customer references, checking insurance details, and carrying out a Criminal Records Bureau check.
