Fruit and Veg Bag Schemes

Hartlepool Borough Council supports and promotes fruit and vegetable bag schemes throughout Hartlepool.

The scheme aims to make good quality, low-cost fruit and vegetables readily available to your local community.

What's in the bag?

Everyone taking part in the scheme receives a bag of mixed vegetables, fruit or salad.  Each bag costs £2.80 (as of January 2010) and you can order as many bags as you like.  Free range eggs are also available at a cost of £1.75 a dozen.

If you're looking for meal ideas for your fruit and veg, why not try a free recipe from Hartlepool's health trainers?

How does it work?

Residents place their order with their local scheme and pay for their bag in advance. The orders are sent to a local supplier who provides the produce -  bagged and ready - for collection at a specified time.  Some schemes in the town provide a delivery service to those who aren't able to collect their fruit and vegetable bag.
